Origin of the Foundation
Arthur Feldthusen died in 2001 and Karen Feldthusen died in 2006. They had no children, and Karen Feldthusen decided some time before her death that the majority of their fortune should go to a foundation for young singing and piano students. It was a clear wish on Karen's part that when awarding scholarships, no distinction should be made between Danish students and international students at Danish conservatories etc. While many Danish foundations only award scholarships to Danish citizens, Feldthusen's Foundation therefore also offers support for international students who have chosen to study in Denmark. The first scholarships were awarded in 2008.
